P5/6 Smashing the Curriculum π‘ππ
25th Apr 2026
π What a fantastic and engaging week for our Primary 5 & 6 pupils! π
From budding authors to mini mathematicians, the children have been busy developing their skills across the curriculum πβοΈ
In literacy, we explored the art of storytelling, discovering that to write a great narrative, you first need to understand how to read and experience one. We discovered that every good story must have; an introduction, a build up, a problem/dilemma and a resolution! The children created some truly imaginative and captivating pieces during creative writing… we were blown away by their ideas! πβ¨
π’In numeracy, learning came to life as Mrs McAloon helped the children measure their height using metre sticks. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and a bit of friendly comparison too! ππ
π Fun Fact of the Week: Did you know the Sun doesn’t actually move across our sky? It’s the Earth rotating and orbiting the Sun, taking a whole year to complete one full journey! The children loved Mrs McAloon’s hands-on demonstration bringing this to life π
We also focused on decimal numbers, exploring tenths and hundredths, and understanding the value of digits before and after the decimal point. A tricky concept mastered with confidence! π’π
And of course, the sunshine gave us the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, get active, and enjoy PE and football, keeping our bodies moving and our spirits high! βοΈβ½πβοΈ
π A week full of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, well done everyone! Enjoy the sunshine over the weekend π π
