P5/6 Day 1 Health and Well Being Week🧠

This week we started our Health and Well Being Week🌿. Today we focused on Mindfulness Monday.🧠

Mrs McAloon did a fabulous job helping us to relax both our bodies and minds. We began with some simple hand exercises to support our breathing techniques 🫁. She then demonstrated a range of Brain Gym exercises to help engage and exercise our brains.
We also learned some interesting facts, including how the left side of our brain controls the right side of our body and vice versa. To support this, we took part in cross-body movements to help activate our brains.🧠⬅️➡️

During snack time, we slowed down our eating and drinking to notice how our bodies absorb food and fluids. We learned about the importance of drinking water and how it helps our brain function.🚰🍉🍓🍊🍐🍌

We also listened to relaxing music and enjoyed some mindfulness colouring 🎨.
Overall, we came away with the understanding that brain health and wellness are just as important as physical health, and that it’s important to look after both.
