Sorting is a key mathematical skill taught in P1. It teaches the children how to recognise patterns and understand relationships between items. The P1 children were finding different ways to sort the teddy bears. They then had to talk about how they sorted their bears justifying how and why they sorted them that way which in turn supports their language development.
